Labs

Labs are in-depth, inquiry-based programs, allowing hands-on experiences for small groups of students.

  • Grades 4–8

Learn about blood and its importance to the body. Experiment with heart rates using a stethoscope, and discover the benefits of exercise, a healthy diet, and not smoking. Conduct an in-depth study during small-group dissections of a sheep heart.

  • Grades 4−8

Develop an understanding of the respiratory system by examining physiology, lung capacity, and anatomy. Use pulse oximeters to learn how the respiratory system and the circulatory system are related. Conduct an in-depth study during small-group dissections of a sheep lung.

  • Grades 2–5

Use lots of hands-on activities and experiments to learn the secrets behind optical illusions and compare your binocular vision to the vision of other animals. Conduct an in-depth study during small-group dissections of a cow eye.

  • Grades 4–8

Are you up to the challenge? You’ll see toys in a whole new light as you examine the potential and kinetic energy that makes them work. Then put your new knowledge to the test as toy inventors.

  • Grades 4–8

Blast into physics! As the engineer, you will go full throttle and experiment with the basic principles of flight and motion. Design, create, and launch your own paper rocket. Hey, it’s just rocket science.
